We are hiring: Events & Communication Specialist!

U-Start is searching for an Events & Communication Specialist for its office in Milan. The candidate will support in organizing and coordinating U-Start events while maintaining our brand positioning and will play a pivotal role in managing and implementing the U-Start communication plan. Plus he/she will support the content creation process for our international business to grow the brand identity. This includes working with our portfolio companies to create a video, written case studies, blog posts and articles for our magazine.

The ideal candidate has 1/2 years of work experience in the same/similar role, is familiar with communication activities, content creation, events organization and has strong project management skills. Candidate needs to be strategic thinker, creative, highly organized, detail-oriented and comfortable to develop long-term relationships with clients and suppliers.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to


  • Plan and execute the U-Start events in collaboration with the team;
  • Be the point of contact for the involved suppliers (location, catering, photo&video, printer);
  • Management of the events-related communications, being also responsible for graphic materials creation and production;
  • Provide post-event evaluation, reporting and analysis.


  • Management the U-Start social pages (Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram) and U-Start blog, planning, implementing and executing the online communication plan;
  • Lead and execute the production of the periodical U-Start newsletter and monthly magazine using proper communication tools (MailUp, Indesign) and coordinating with the magazine director and the involved stakeholders (portfolio companies, funds, club members);
  • Be the point of reference for the external communication materials (presentations and website).


  • 1/2 years of experience in event and communication management or in a similar role;
  • Strong project management and organizational skills;
  • Agility and flexibility in adapting to different requirements of the business and respond quickly. Effective multi-tasking skills are vital;
  • Experience in social media planning and in email marketing tools;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent ability to communicate both verbal and written;
  • A self-confident, open-minded person, eager to learn, able to be flexible and adapt to changing circumstances;
  • Creative and proactive behavior: generate new ideas or innovate around already established approaches;
  • Willing to learn the use of new technologies, social media and other tools relevant to the job;
  • Curiosity, can-do attitude;
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); Experience with Adobe Package (Indesign, Photoshop) and video editing tools is a plus;
  • Good written and spoken English;
  • BA/BS degree in Economics, Business, Marketing, Communication and related fields.

Contract type 

  • Full-time starting in July 2019
  • The position will be located in U-Start’s office in Milan
